Did you just dust icing sugar on my ham croissant?
A perfect Monte Cristo has a few classic markers: thinly sliced deli ham, cheese, and to balance all that savory, then dusted with icing sugar and served with berry jam (I used Bonne Maman Raspberry Preserves).
It’s a fancy cafe menu that can easily be replicated at home. I had this for lunch but E had his all-time favorite Bacon & Egg Croissant. Then he admitted that my Monte Cristo was actually better than his.
The next time somebody told you to dust icing sugar and dip your Ham & Cheese sandwich on berry jam, they’re not mad.
