Day 28.
Pause, Reflect & Be Happy.
“How can I avoid Coronavirus?” was probably the most searched question in the past few weeks. Today, as most nations asked people to remain in #quarantine and practice social distancing, I am pretty sure the question above has been slowly replaced – “What to do in self-isolation?”
Especially as New Zealand Government has announced that they will extend Level 4 complete lock down for another 5 days and then getting into 2 weeks Level 3 (aka 3.9) lock down.
My answer is try to make yourself happier. Embrace the moment. It’s an opportunity that rarely given to us.
In order to feel better, the easiest way is probably changing your behavior. People often be perfectionist and wait for the perfect timing to start a new things that they THINK could make them a better person and happier. Like, running 5k every day. But then, it’s raining, you’re feeling under the weather, or your kids starts your day with scream and yelling. And you decided to wait for another day, for the ‘good timing’.
The truth is, there’s never a perfect timing for everything, even when you wait for it. You just need to do it.
I have had a plan to redo this very website for ages but finally started doing it last month. And that’s not even the right timing. One day, I just brave myself to delete to whole old website, so I don’t have any other choice than start building a new one.
Start with something small is also an easy way to change your life.
Like, I used to run 5k every day back then. I was never a runner. I slacked on PE class back in school time, making excuses like period and stuff. One day a couple of years ago, I just went for a run one morning and even my husband doesn’t believe it when I told him later that day. I started small, like 15 minutes – 1km slow jog. Then it becomes 40 minutes – 5km in probably 3 months? THAT, was one of my biggest achievements in life. It lasts for a year until I got back to 9-5 work hours.
Now when I went for a run after 1 year abstains, I think I almost die by running out of breath. I don’t know how did I do that. But I’ve decided to start over again. I started like before, 15 minutes – 2km jog. After 2 weeks, it becomes 20 minutes -2.5km. I don’t know how long will it last, will I still able to do it after the lockdown? Don’t think too much about it now, just do it.
Honey, what’s for dinner?
