Day 37.
On our last trip to Bali, I had an idea to drive to Ubud just to get a local pottery. I heard, you’ll find a lot there. So, we get into our rental car and drove for about couple of hour from our accommodation in Seminyak.
Apparently, things get pretty touristy in Ubud. Every pottery and ceramic store that we get in seems very expensive. I remember there’s one store that has very beautiful stuff but they’re just so out of our budget. Sadly, I only get 1 small sauce plate. It’s matte green and has a frog carving on it. Fast forward to the present day. I was using the frog plate on lunch today. And when I do the dishes, I just realised, it has PUERTO RICO written at the bottom of the plate. Not Bali, not Indonesia, but Puerto Rico.
That made me laugh like crazy.
I’m not sure what’s happening here. There’s few theory:
- The plate was made in Puerto Rico, then was sold in Bali.
- The plate was made in Bali, but get exported to Puerto Rico to be sold as a souvenir there, so they forge the name at the bottom.
- The plate was…
